Can We Get Toxic Metals Out of Children's Products?
In July Bay Area Rep. Jackie Speier introduced legislation that would set standards for toxic metals found in children's products.
An anonymous tip to her office in May was the catalyst for the recall of more than 12 million "Shrek" glasses sold at McDonalds. The glasses were found to contain high levels of cadmium, and threatened the health of children who drank from them.
Dangerously high levels of cadmium have also led to recalls of children's toys and jewelry this year.
