December 20th, 2016

After more than 10 years of transforming school environments towards health and sustainability, Green Schools Initiative ceased operations in December 2016. We are proud of our achievements, which you can learn about via the archives of this website. The resources and links will lead you to many other organizations that can serve and support your interests, including Project Green Schools, the Green Schools National Network, Green Schools Alliance, Facing the Future, the Center for Green Schools, Collaborative for High Performance Schools, Grades of Green, Green Schoolyards America, the Campaign for Environmental Literacy, Eco-Schools USA, Center for Ecoliteracy, and many, many more international, national, regional, state and local organizations.

Deborah Moore, the co-founder and Executive Director for Green Schools Initiative, has moved on to the Union of Concerned Scientists (starting in February 2016).

Thank you to our many members, supporters, partners, funders, collaborators, and Advisory Board members for the great work we did together! Thank you to the thousands of teachers, students, and parents who invested their passion, time, and energy in making their schools environmentally friendly, getting kids outdoors and into nature, and caring for people and places. The next generation gives us hope and great joy!

Green Schools. Healthy Kids. Better Future.
